Sucks,

Saturday morning, I step out the front door, onto the front porch, and the next thing I know I am on my butt. Ok, so my pride is hurt,, I can deal with that,, but so does my knee. So fast forward to Tuesday,, went to the the Ortho who operated on my left knee,, who upon looking at the MRI, determined there is either one large, or two smaller tears to the meniscus. If it is two tears, the hope is the outer will heal itself (it has blood flow to it) enough to avoid surgery, the inner tear will never heal, (it does not have blood flow). but,, symptoms lead to believe surgery will be required. When I walk, uhh limp around,, there are times the knee will lock - catch, witch causes me to invent new cuss words. Surgeon wants to wait four weeks,, to see if the outer tear heals. To top it off,, My company has just called a "state of emergency" which requires 12hr days, until further notice. So, I had declared 2010 as my "well" year, (no surgeries, hospital ect) but so far have spent the night in the hospital with kidneys stones, and now it looks like I will probably have to have the knee cut on.

I give up, 2010 appears to be setting up as another sucky year.
People laugh because I'm different, I laugh because they are all the same

Tom,

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this.  It sucks.  But trying to find a bright side:  You've lost 100 POUNDS!!!!!! Think of how much less the pain is than if you were still 100 pounds heavier.  (Lemons...Lemonade )  Seriously though, I hope it heals and you can avoid surgery.

Take it easy.

Tom,
I had that surgery 3yrs ago, and my Dad had it last month. Actually all the pain was before the surgery. They do it laparoscopic and there is zero pain. I hope you heal quickly. DON'T count 2010 out yet!, remember things could always been a lot worse. When you fell on the ice on Sat. instead of falling backward on your butt, you could have fallen forward landing on your..................! Cheer up! Leslie:)

Ouch Tom,   we've got ice too I'm sorry to hear you fell.

just think about how much worse it would be without the surgery and the tremendous weight loss.

I'm sorry 2010 is turning out so bad.
